Women on zoom, sewing

Five live sessions

Every Monday night at 7pm Central, plus a Saturday morning workalong on November 14 where I sew and you drop in whenever you like. Every one gets a replay within a day.

Twelve recorded lessons

Printing, pressing, cutting, placing, ironing, finishing (sorry, no partridge in a pear tree, though). Short videos you can pause and rewatch at your own speed, and they stay open after the quiltalong ends.

Finished project

A finished project by November 30

Not a pile of good intentions in a drawer. We finish together on November 30 and everybody shows what they made.

About the course

Learn my signature Commando Appliqué method and open up a new world of quilty possibilities!  No fussy needle-turning, no guessing on placement, and no frustration. Your enrollment fee includes the digital pattern ($18 value) and live, guided sessions in addition to comprehensive on-demand video content. Here's the month at a glance. Week 1, November 2 to 8. Print your base, print your fusible, build your paint palette. This is the week you get to shop your stash and call it homework. Week 2, November 9 to 15. Press, cut, start placing. The biggest week, and the one where a pile of shapes quietly turns into a picture. Week 3, November 16 to 22. Section by section across the whole design. Your mat is smaller than your project? No prob. I got you.  Week 4, November 23 to 29. Last pieces, background fabric, finishing. No live session, because turkey. November 30. We get on Zoom and everybody holds up what they made. New lessons open every Monday at 6am Central. You also get into a class community, where we'll be posting fabric choices and half-done projects all month long. You'll need Lite Steam a Seam 2, a small iron, a silicone mat, and something to light your work from underneath. I'll send the full materials list in early October, with plenty of time to gather. Want me to ship you the fusible? Order by October 26. Beginners welcome. So are people who have started four quiltalongs and finished none of them.

Theresa Benson the AI Quilter presenting at QuiltCon 2026

Theresa Benson, The AI Quilter

I'm a quilt artist, pattern designer, and teacher, and I wrote a book called Digital Muse: Bringing AI into your Creative Process. Most of my job is making hard techniques feel doable, which mostly means making every possible mistake first so you don't have to. Commando Appliqué came out of exactly that. I tried the methods everyone teaches, got tired of not being able to see what I was doing, and figured out the answer was a lot simpler than I could've imagined.

Enrollment closes  November 8

After that the group's already moving and the fabric conversation has come and gone. Use SPARKLE59 through October 26 to take $20 off, and order your fusible while the mail still has time to do its thing.
